Acro dance is a style of dance that combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. It is defined by its athletic character, its unique choreography, which seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics, and its use of acrobatics in a dance context. Acro is a mixture of tumbles, dance and technique.

What is Cheerleading?
Cheerleading is an activity in which the participants cheer for their team as a form of encouragement. It can range from chanting slogans to intense physical activity. It can be performed to motivate sports teams, to entertain the audience, or for competitions. Cheer is dance tumbles and stunting.
Meet the Teacher - Hannah
I've been dancing since the age of 4 years old. I started off doing street dancing before moving on to street/freestyle where I competed. I loved the passion and energy it gave me!
I then joined a cheerleading squad. The power, the energy, the fire that it makes you give when performing - I just simply loved it! My favourite part of cheerleading has to be the tumbles and stunts, it always amazed me how people could tumble the way they did & the fact I was strong enough to lift other people in the air and catch them.
I've been with AJ's School of dance for many years now and have strong relationships with all the staff & pupils - it's just such a warm welcoming school.
I have also taken part in various AJ's classes such as Ballet, Tap, street, hip hop, commercial, BBX.
I am currently in Contemporary, Tap, Commercial and a competition squad called FTB.
I love teaching cheer and acro and to help pupils grow and build as I did over the years.
Benefits of acro are they learn new skills in the tumble industry, from the basic forward roll to higher level tumbles for example, handsprings, tucks, layouts. Benefits of cheerleading are that it helps build muscle, confidence and stamina.
Having to give yourself and put your life into your team mates hands is a big thing for some people. Cheerleading is not easy, but once you've got the basics of everything and you start pushing yourself, anything is possible.
Acro and Cheer is made up of a wide range of pupils, from people who have never tumbled in their life, to people who want to push higher. I love teaching these styles because I want to help pupils achieve what I achieved over the years in the cheerleading & acro world #hittheirgoals!

Coaching cheer has been something I’ve always wanted to do as I’ve done cheer since I was 4. I love cheer because of the team spirit that comes with it and how fun it always is. I think that people should come to cheer because it gives you great skills to work in a team and make new friends
